If I speak from my perspective, probably I'll be placed by other Brazilians in the
group called in Portuguese as Complexo
de vira-lata or Mongrel complex.
The reason for that is since Brazil is a continental country, most people's references are just
Brazil. That's understandable, but from my perspective, Brazil has more disadvantages than
advantages to live. Some of that reasons came from a historical problem of corruption in Brazil that
exists on all levels of society from the top echelons of political power to the smallest
municipalities.
This bothers me—a lot. And I don't have enough time in my life to help fix
these kinds of things, since it's taken decades or maybe centuries (or never).
In terms of the absolute number of murders in a year, Brazil has the most murders of any
country by total number., the high
levels of violence, unemployment, inflation, are great reasons.

It's sad. But it's real.
On the other hand, the phrase we are Brazilians, we never give up is something real, that I feel
proud of. We have great music like Elis
Regina or Angra and
Sepultura, and great people in education, art, and science like Paulo Freire, Miguel Nicolelis, Vivian Miranda and
so many others.
We have beautiful places like Fernando de Noronha. Brazilians
are very hardworking people, sometimes with very creative ways to solve problems that we call Gambiarra.
I'm Brazilian, and I never give up.
